'Wild' Bill Davison (born 1906, Defiance Ohio. Died 1989, Santa Barbra California) was a cornetist known for his tonal distortions and use a vibrato creating a signature tone. He got his start in the Chubb-Steinberg Orchestra of Cincinnati in 1924. His nickname reflected his heavy drinking and womanizing in his early years. He gained popularity in the 1940s and is mostly associated with Eddie Condon.
