a great farewell album for Steve Hackett. Nursery Cryme,Foxtrot,Selling England by the Pound,The Lamb Lies down on Broadway,A Trick of the Tail,Wind & Wuthering.the only member of Genesis to never appear on a Genesis LP that wasn`t great. unlike almost all other rock lead guitarists he knew when to take a back seat and stepped upto the plate when it was his turn to shine.

This is probably my favorite post-Gabriel Genesis album. It's amazing from start to finish, and probably one of their top 5 albums overall.

Ok, the Live-Album Seconds Out with Steve is of course also great...., but then really embarrassing......

The last great Genesis-Studio-Album. The stuff after Wind & Wuthering is - in one word - embarrassing......

You wouldn't walk up to any of these guys and tell them their music was embarrassing. Talk like this is just juvenile snobbery.

On second thought, "All in a Mouse's Night" is better than I remembered it. "Your Own Special Way" is still pretty forgettable though.

The last great Genesis album. The later albums still have moments of greatness, but only moments. I can do without "Your Own Special Way" and "All in a Mouse's Night" though.

It's not quite a masterpiece like the preceding six albums, but it's still excellent and a fine swan song for the classic era. It's the last Genesis album worth listening to.

A weak album (upon revisiting it). The way Banks' meandering keys smother each track is incredibly annoying, and Collins' hammy vocals don't help. The album needed a major influx of Hackett's guitar/ balls/ life (who was right to jump ship here). Not surprising they'd go full-on schmaltz with And then... after this one.

When I saw the Seconds Out tour and Phil did his acrobatic tambourine jam, I got sold on I Know What I Like. That was fun. I like the idea of the song lyrics too-- a guy who is happy and successful doing what he does, though none of his betters think so. I didn't care for More Fool Me on Selling England simply because it was Phil, and not PG on vocals. My opinion, but Phil just sounds like imitation Gabriel-- without the range and expression and hint of darkness. Phil does pop music well, does drums like a god. I was never especially offended by Own Special Way. I was surprised to see the venom towards it here. Oh well, I love DEVO, so there ya go!

This was a really strong album, despite being relatively unknown by Genesis standards. It didn't really have a standout tune but all the songs were good.

The loss of Hackett was so evident after this album. But what a swan song, huh? Although I loved Peter Gabriel as the frontman so much better, this remains my favorite Genesis album. One For The Vine stands out for me as complete genius.
