Rathjen on June 9, 2013 This movie is pretty intense, and the fact that the same guy wrote, directed, starred in AND did the soundtrack is incredible. The movie may be a bit hard to swallow, but this music is certainly beautiful in sort of a dreamy, minimalistic way. And while this music enhances the whole movie amazingly, it totally stands on its own as a great listen. 5 people found this helpful. Shane Carruth is a film-maker from the United States. He wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred both of his films, Primer (2004) and Upstream Color (2013). He is also the composer of original scores for both films. The soundtrack to the debut film Primer is best described as minimalistambient - it almost entirely lacks rhythm and is based on sessile synthetic string chords and sparse piano echoes.
