The Stooges is the self-titled debut studio album by American rock band The Stooges. It was released in August 1969 on Elektra Records. Two songs, "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "1969", were released as singles and the album peaked at number 106 on the Billboard album charts. It is widely considered one of the best Garage Rock albums. The Stooges (also known as Iggy and the Stooges) were an American rock group that was formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States in 1967. Featuring a bombastic proto-punk sound, they released three studio albums before breaking up in 1974.
