Pop artist Alex Winston stops by the Last.fm studio for a performance.

Alex Winston's shimmering, idiosyncratic pop has been on our radar since her 2012 debut King Con. Now she's back with her latest record, The Day I Died EP. While the title may sound morbid, the lyrics are really a recognition of change and transition in her life, as Alex explained in a recent visit to our studio.

The New York by-way-of Detroit singer also discussed her writing process, touring with Neon Trees, and other inspirations, including her background as a classically trained opera singer. However, that shouldn't come as a surprise though given her quirky and emotive vocals, which have even garnered comparisons to Joanna Newsom and Kate Bush.
