BEST FICTION is the third best-of album from Namie Amuro, which was released on July 30, 2008. In its first week it amassed 681,187 copies sold making it the highest opening sales of any album of 2008. It remained at the #1 position on the Oricon charts for 6 weeks, the first time that has happened since 1979, the first time ever for a compact disc released by a solo artist. In its seventh week it was bumped off the top spot by fellow label-mate, Ayumi Hamasaki's A COMPLETE ~ALL SINGLES~.
Content-wise, BEST FICTION consisted of all of Amuro's singles from 2003's Wishing On The Same Star to 2008's #1 single, 60s 70s 80s, covering the albums STYLE, Queen of Hip-Pop, and PLAY. Additionally, the album contained two new songs: Do Me More used as the fourth song in her continued work with Vidal Sassoon, and Sexy Girl, the theme song for the NHK drama "Otome no PUNCH".
Also, the album debuted at the top of United World Chart with the world's highest opening sales figures, which it retained until the release of Metallica's DEATH MAGNETIC. It has so far spent 8 weeks on the UWC and sold an impressive 1,368,903 (as of 09/23/08).
