legitimately surprised they're able to release a good album but some of the songs have sections where it sounds like gooning music

LIBAD contains some of their best stuff (Game Over + Cosmic + Easier (hell, even Life is But A Dream is a great song in itself)), but it also contains some awful creative decisions. The main being the really fucking odd vocals Matt chose to do in some songs, like he was trying to be a voice actor portraying a really nerdy villain or some shit lmao. It sounds corny and can ruin the songs vibe entirely.

I recently saw them live after seeing them numerous times in the past, and I can honestly say that I was pretty let down. I'm still not sure what to think on the newer stuff. I've just always been a huge A7X fan and WTF, in my opinion, was an absolute masterpiece. Miss those days.

Man reading this shoutbox takes me back to 2010 when Linkin Park put out A Thousand Suns

Yeah. The classic situation is when a group with a youth audience releases something more complex than a banal genre release and the children argue about whether it is a masterpiece or not.

Lol I was very into Avenged Sevenfold in middle school. 12,13 years old. They were my life but when Hail To The King came out I thought they were getting slicker. I started getting very into "classic rock" a year later. Metal and heavier music left my system. I was no longer angry. A7X got me really into Zappa and it went on from there. I was getting sucked into the 60s, 70s. Now I cannot stand a lot of classic rock. I'm into the sappy bubble gum goo of the 60s, folk, psychedelia and the weirder bands of the period. Love a lot of the harder rock too and world music. "G" very much reminds me of Frank Zappa's Overnite Sensation album and I love it! I just started playing Guitar Hero again and it got me back into Avenged Sevenfold. A lot of music on that game fucking sucked though! I couldn't believe The Seeker by The Who (my favorite band) was a cover. I am back into Avenged Sevenfold man. It all comes around. Self titled-Nightmare are fucking fantastic albums. The drumming is insane

They're a fantastic band and I do not know why people group them with the shitty metal bands of the time period. They're just incredible musicians. I can't believe 12 years later I'm very into them again lmao. The recent record was great. All of their records are fantastic except for Hail To The King. Too edgy and butt rock for me.

Because they are still an edgy core band that just knows how to play instruments and insert heavy elements into their music.

Need to listen to the latest more, but i didn't find it too bad on the first listen, definitely better than Hail to the King to me. P.S. ATS is peak LP.

Good analogy. When a previously good band releases some simplistic, computer-generated electronic trash and tries to be a generic pop band

Brilliant group! Has always been a great example of true metalcore. This is just a real mixture of hardcore with metal (in their case with heavy metal), as if GNR of our time, only GNR took hard rock to a new level, and they heavy metal, mixing it with hardcore. Especially their albums since 2005.They are also brilliant because they remake classic riffs. Especially the first albums, where I encountered sepultura and bad religion riffs
