I'd like him to sing more, or even release another solo album. Some of my favorite Ayreon moments have him singing. It's like Jonas Renkse: he didn't need an amazing range or power to steal the show on 01011001. Arjen, you have a great voice and you write great harmonies! Plus the hippie character; one of the best of the whole saga.

Не особо люблю прогрессивный метал такого типа, но конкретно этот очень доставляет.

Listening The Human Equation while reading your comment. I wonder if it's because in DT LaBrie really has to "stretch" his voice a lot? In many parts here he just can relax a bit more his voice...

I find Arjen gets the best out the guests he has on his albums. My favourite Bruce Dickinson vocals, Hansi Kürsch, Labrie etc etc are all not with their original bands, but with Ayreon. One of Arjen’s greatest talents is getting the absolute best of his musicians.

Absolutely correct. However certain artists he continuously works with like Damian Wilson, Anneke Van Giersbergen, Floor Jansen, Russell Allen and Dan Swanö also know how to use his music to their advantage as well, which is why he always works with them. Arjen is an awesome songwriter and has a keen ear for great talent.

So I ordered a vinyl of Actual Fantasy Revisited from Europe and the og cd of AF from America. Somehow the vinyl came in 4 days and the CD came in two weeks. Europe might be experimenting with portals, guys.

o Transitus é o prova de que o Arjen pode fazer ABSOLUTAMENTE QUALQUER COISA que vai ficar bom

My version of Transitus has 4CDs. What's the difference from the others? The 3rd I know is instrumental.

New album was a lot better than I thought it would be. Some parts seem a little too simple for Arjen, but I enjoyed it. It got better as the album went on. I'm excited for future listens, to really dig deep into the story. The story was actually really easy to follow for a first listen, which I have to give Arjen credit for doing such a great job. Since he isn't doing an overarching giant story anymore, that probably makes things easier!

I didn't immediately love The Source, but in the few years since 2017, it's soared to my #1 spot for Ayreon albums, which is a very high bar. And then... Transitus. Acquiring a taste for this is like acquiring a taste for chocolate covered pig hearts. I just can't do it. Had I known Transitus wasn't metal but some sort of Broadway Rock Experience, I would not have pre-ordered. Still, one total dud out of a discography that includes at least four masterpieces is a damn fine track record for an artist.

idk, I find this album is a huge step up from the last two albums, especially The Source. I also have no idea why people dislike Cammie's voice so much. I'm glad we got a different kind of voice, and I thought she and Tommy sounded amazing together. My only complaint is that there is way too much narration and that's an aspect of the guide vocals album I really enjoyed.

Why is this poor Disney story in any way an Ayreon album? D: The music is weakest Ayreon, even though I still kinda like it, but the story is awful and nothing to do with Ayreon universe. I guess the only reason this album is an Ayreon album is because of the sale numbers... The last time I knew, the separate projects like this came out with different names like Ambeon or The Gentle Storm. And no, unrelated Human Equation and Universal Migrator name drops aren't pulling this together with the Ayreon universe. :( Well, even if I can't ever see this being part of the real Ayreon canon, some songs and singers are awesome. Simone does much better than usually, and gets great support from Marcela and Caroline. Fun role! Tommy Karevik ofc is godlike in every aspect anywhere he sings. Ever-young and charismatic Dee Snider did a nice job as the Father in one of the better songs of the album. Mills was great as always. Not a fan of Cammie unfortunately.

Hmm, the album is okay, but it's not my favourite Ayreon album. Disc 1 is pretty strong though I find Cammie's Abby lacking (I prefer the girl on the Guide Vocals version). While she is a great in her own band, I don't think she harmonizes too well with Tommy. Disc 2 is a bit of a drag unfortunately and the narrations are annoying. I do wish they were interludes instead. The lack of Dianne singing some actual lyrics was a big letdown, and I kinda feel Tommy didn't sing that much either. That being said, there are some epic moments. I love the use of the Hellscore Choir especially in Inferno. Wish this track was longer. The Guide Vocals made me enjoy the album a lot more. Simone is great. I love the cheeky angel angle. The Furies sing some catchy vocal lines. The upbeat rock songs are fun. Solid album overall, but The Theory of Everything and The Source remain my favourites.

With just two songs out, Transitus already rocks as a contender to Album of the Year

Heard two songs from Transitus. They were accidentally available for purchase on their band camp page for a short time. One song is uptempo and features Dee Snider (and a bit of Tommy) and the other is a slow duet between Tommy and Cammie.

I love 01011001 a lot, but Connect The Dots' lyrics make me cringe to death. What a completly vapid and surface level criticism of technology, straight up boomer shit.

I don't think it's about that. I think it's about how our everyday choices, things we consume, buy, etc, affect the environment, our relationships with others and how we also chosse to be oblivious to it ("we all know but won't connect the dots"). Everything is entertwined but we only thik about satisfying our individual desires here and now, without thinking about the consequences. It's not vapid or superficial, it's a song (there are articles and deeper discussions about it elsewhere).

I was never a fan of live albums. But damn Ayreon Universe kicked my ass. It worked a lot better than The Theater Equation imo. Even when the original singers weren't there, they were replaced by the good person. I wasn't thrilled by some replacements on The Theater Equation so that was a nice surprise.

Ayreon Universe is fantastic. One of the best live shows I've ever seen filmed.
