This album could be described as a blackened speed metal classic in retrospect, and a pioneering album in this regard. These songs and earlier material do sound like the Satanic, darker versions of what Acid and Exciter did in the meantime, apart from the obvious similarities with what Venom did before. Things had sped up on the album in comparison to earlier recordings, but still retained the same formula in a nutshell. On the next album Bathory took another step further, breaking into nascent black metal genre as we define it today, but I would say it's a pity that Quorthon abandoned this Motörhead-influenced style way too soon. Fortunately we have many bands today that follow the classic sound of early Bathory, such as Power From Hell!

its certainly better than the yellow misprint that Quorthon himself hated. He intended it to be gold.

Don't know how, but this album became a some huge stuff in my life. It was a turning point for me, i already was a banger that was present on the scene, but by 18 i started smoking weed and this stuff was one of the things i was hearing most, and with marijuana it became even better! That moment i knew there was no turning back i was a rock n roll victim. If my mind were a city, this album is a megalitich monument on downtown.
