Holy shit...! That fucking ending is the most disturbing thing that I've heard in any song. And this means a lot, I guess.

last year at one "made out of babies" concert i took the chance to ask julie christmas about this song, everything i remember was that the telephone call is actually real and she wants to keep further information about it to the bands secrets.

This is also true about the album, which probably is somewhat related to this: "Through the writing and recording of the album, core Battlers Josh Graham of Red Sparowes and Made Out of Babies vocalist Julie Christmas went from being tourmates who hated each other, to bandmates in a romantic relationship with each other, and finally, to bandmates who hated each other again."

This isn't definitive, but here's an except from an interview: MS: "What is 'At the Base of the Giant’s Throat' about and how many takes were involved to get the perfect scream on the 911 call?" / JC: "I am actually not allowed to talk about that. I know it sounds crazy and overly-dramatic, but I’m serious. Please feel free to roll your eyes! I can only tell you that it just took one take."

Wow. I at first did not find this band all that appealing, but given this song I'll have to reconsider. Brilliant piece. Haunting, chilling, terrifying, and caustically beautiful. Hard to tell if catharsis comes. Guess I should listen to the whole album.

The entire second half of the song is amazing. Should have been the last track on the album, as it would've flowed so much better.
