"Jazz is really about the human experience. It’s about the ability of human beings to take the worst of circumstances and struggles and turn it into something creative and constructive. That’s something that’s built into the fiber of every human being. And I think that’s why people can respond to it. They feel the freedom in it. And the attributes of jazz are also admirable. It’s about dialogue. It’s about sharing. And teamwork. It’s in the moment, and it's nonjudgmental." - Herbie Hancock

I would love it if there was an option to display listened minutes instead of songs.

Even outside of his own albums, he's contributed to so much great music. A bona fide legend.

I dunno if I'm the only one. But I heard about Herbie Hancock through Chris Farley. He mentions "Herbie Hancock" in a movie, I think it was Tommy Boy. He says it in a comedic way.

I discovered Herbie Hancock from a breakdancing movie starring Jamie Kennedy that I saw when I was 12

Rockit is probably the best song I ever listened to by Herbie Hancock. Incredible electro/electronic jazz!

There has been talk of a new album, supposedly produced by Terrace Martin, for like 3 years now.... If anybody has any recent news about it, that would be much appreciated

Digging his Death Wish film score lately. Recently I've started to realize that Herbie is a unifying thread in a lot of the Jazz and Fusion music I enjoy, so I should probably start spending more time listening to the records he made as a bandleader. I've always liked them but have never really dug into most of them the way I have some of the other great artists. Not sure why that was, because he's pretty much untouchable in the 60s and 70s (and possibly beyond -- haven't really gotten into the 80s much as of yet).

For his groundbraking music, he definitely deserves more credit than he usually gets. Even when among jazz pianists he's one of the most respected names in the world, outside it he's lesser known.
