They told on Instagram in august 2023 that they had been in the studio working on the next album and a few days ago they posted a video on Instagram with some new(?) music playing in the background. So I guess there will be a new album sometime in the future.

I'm kinda hopeless for this cause. I will believe only when I see it, but I hope you are right.

I first listened to Junius because of their Post-rock tags and I instantly loved them. I've been following them ever since and I love how they became better and better through every release. But a question I always had is why they are tagged as a post-rock band. Can anyone explain me why?

Gotta blame thesirenssound.blogspot.com; they hyped Junius (with reason) when Martyrdom came out and they just labeled it post-rock lol. I wouldn't even call them post-metal, they for sure have developed a unique style on their own and hard to compare them to classic post-metal or anything else really.

The martyrdom of a catastrophist is a really good album, I think it needs more recognizing.

"Reports From the Threshold of Death" is a brilliant album, for me it's the best of them.

Was hoping for a sound closer to Days of the Fallen Sun on the new album, but I like the heavier direction they went with as well. Eternal Rituals isn't quite as dramatic as the earlier material, but all the more anthemic, which suits Junius very well. Gets me excited for the next European tour.

All of the bands you mentioned minus Benighted (haven't got a chance to listen to them yet). Fen's new album sounded nice too. And I'm pretty excited about Mastodon's upcomng album. I liked all three singles they've released so far.

Oh dear, I'd completely forgotten about them, I listened to them. That band is actually from my country :D i had no idea people had heard of it outside of this country ;D It was pretty good btw. Benighted, I have never listened to before but I'll definitely check em out soon. Any thoughts on the new havok album?

I had huge expectations towards the new album and, well, it never gets as good as I hoped it would be. It has great ideas and moments but overall never hits the awesome levels previous Junius records did. I kinda' miss some of the dramatic melodies and atmospheres from the past albums, often Eternal Rituals sounds like halfway generic heavy chugging.

I agree. It's certainly no Martyrdom of a Catastrophist. Hell, it's not even Blood Is Bright (and that's an EP)!

Junius is one of my top 3 bands of all time. IMHO, there is just no other band out there that comes close to creating this style of music as well as they do. Their guitarist, Mike, is such a cool and friendly dude as well. I will buy their new album as soon as I possibly can.

I like how they named themselves after the anonymous polecmicist Junius, who lived in the eighteenth century.
