The greatest album of the nineties, Patton's crowning achievement, and one of my top 3 all time favorites. A monumental work of art.

This album officially marked the time where I gave up nu metal bullshit bands and opened my tastes up DRAMATICALLY. There was no turning back.

Seriously, this is one of the greatest albums ever made. Every song is a winner, all of the weird little noises and crashes and whatever all fit perfectly. I hadn't listened to this in years, then finally picked it up a week ago and I can't stop. The first one is good, California is OK, Disco Volante is high fucking art.

For me, their self-titled was the accessible one while Disco Volante and California were hard to get into. After all was said and done, Disco became my favorite and has been ever since. I still haven't found an artist who has topped it.

On rare occasions, I'm somehow feeling sick of music in general. That's when I put this on. It sounds like they had what could've been pop songs, and then beat the shit out of them. And it's awesome because they're Mr. Bungle, the masters of carefully planning out the best combination of notes and sounds, yet making it sound like they pulled it out of their ass.

This is just on a whole other level from pretty well all other albums. This is what it sounds like when the right people come together at the right time in their creative peaks to create something truly unique and wonderful. To me there isn't really anything quite as rewarding to listen to as this - it's just so bloody ambitious. It's amazing how much stuff is going on here; and going on well. How many times have I listened to this - and the end of "Ma Meeshka Mow Skowz" still scares the crap out of me 99% of the time ;) Having said all that, I could probably still do without "After School Special"; honestly wtf.

Best time to listen to this is definitely when you are massively sleep deprived. It sounds even more fucked. [2]
