Two different versions of Samson exist. The first, slightly longer(3:54), version appeared on the album Songs. The second, and more famous, version was the third track on Begin to Hope(3:10).
The song tells the story of a previously undocumented relationship between the narrator and the biblical Samson. Spektor, as the narrator, engages in a relationship bordering on sadism as Samson wilfully subjugates himself to her, allowing her to cut his hair (and hence drain his strength).
