Fable in Course is his best work to date. Usual top-notch instrumental work, but he now he also has so much more confidence in his singing voice than ever before.

“...if one were inclined to accuse him of being a “traditional” folk musician, or some kind of tribute act for Van Morrison and the classics, his recent performances throw those assumptions out the window. What Walker is attempting here is something entirely different, and something that’s a total stranger to the Civil War-wave garbage that passes for modern folk or “indie” music on most stages these days. That he has already attempted it on the biggest stages, such as at Pitchfork, further proves that Walker isn’t taking the easy, commercial way here. More power to him. Beautiful voice, amazing guitar playing, mindfloating arrangements from the new record: this guy has so much talent!

"I think I get some shit sometimes for wearing my influences on my sleeve, but I hope people can see that I really love music. I love making it. It’s really fun." -- Ryley Walker

whats with that terrible choice of his album covers lol its not very clever of him to blatantly rip off those covers that we all know.. if he is just satisfied paying a homage, then thats fine but he wont escape being compared to the greats whenever he puts out a record. thats one of the reason why some artists dont clarify who their influences are bc they are afraid of being compared to their idols(maybe afraid is a bit strong word to use but...its certainly not a good thing unless uve got some real chops to pull out as being original although people will still see through ur influences) To keep that musical integrety and not be a wannabe is the key to be recognized as true artist
