"Gord's not gone. Just press play, he's right there, where he's always been."

Live At The Roxy makes me wish I was born a decade or two earlier just to see that show. Just an incredible live album. I wonder how many more post-Gord releases they can push out.

Reminds me of a lot of Australian 80s bands that never made it out of the country

No, but it should have been pretty evident that it was not meant to be taken seriously.

It wasn’t taken seriously. I thought you snow bogans were meant to be smarter than Americans

They played two nights in my hometown in summer 2015. As a small town, we never get bands on the scale of the Hip. People were going insane, but I decided to catch them further down the road, as I was a broke student, and tickets were $100. Less than a year later, Gord's diagnosis was revealed to the world. Missing those shows is one of my greatest regrets.

всегда думал, что такая беспонтовая радиофрендли хуйня популярна только в россии (ну, "високосный год" или типа того), однако ж канадцы оказались нам братьями по разуму, неожиданно.

i always discounted the hip as being a lame ass stadium rock/bar-blues band but damn their mid 90s albums and onward are just incredible. so complex and brilliant.

There are pockets near the border, such as Detroit and St Paul/Minneapolis, but for some reason the Hip didn't catch on in the US as a whole. But they do have have fans in Europe and the UK. In Canada ... well, they're way bigger than The Beatles. In Winnipeg there are 2 rock FM stations and couple of mixed content stations, and you can be sure that one of them is playing the Tragically Hip right now. One time I claimed that as an amusing jest to the passengers in my car, then turned on the radio, and a Hip song was playing. It's happened so often since then that I accept it as a truism.
