Brainpool and Popsicle are perhaps the most popular Swedish bands from that era. It's impossible not to love them.

New love found... Maybe it's my soft spot for Swedish pop, but I really do not agree with you Stjaernstoft. Even if they do have average sound, it's not boring. Their songs are quite the same pattern over and again, but who cares -- it's pop. Or maybe I'm in love...

The reason why they were a one hit wonder over there is probably that they have a quite average sound and every song sounds practically the same. But some songs will always be a part of my nostalgic swedish mind anyway. In the early 90s swedish indie pop was very young, very naïve, it was a hit here mostly because we didn't know better. In the same way a fourteen year old could consider The Killers or Coldplay cool "alternative" indie bands.

@pricey123 nope, they split this year actually, and it sucks balls cuz they rule!! But I don't really think we need another Wannadies album and if they were to release one it would probably not be that good anyway

Along with Eggstone, Popsicle, and bob hund, The Wannadies are the everlasting icons of Swedish indie. The 1990's really were a golden age of music in this country. I think at least 75% of everything I listened to back then was domestic pop. Btw, if you like The Wannadies you should really check out their neighbour band from Skellefteå: Hardy Nilsson.
