I listen to his music frequently, but I haven't visited this page for awhile and had no idea he'd died. Truly an innovator. RIP

R.I.P. William Onyeabor. Thank you for your contribution. Your song "Better Change Your Mind" stood out the most when I heard the Nigeria 70 compilation for the first time years ago. I am appreciated I was able to discover and enjoy your music. God bless. "Atomic bomb...atomic bomb..."

I have never heard something like him before. Utterly changed my view of african music... all over again. Speaking in terms of african music, he uses synths like nobody before him, and lyrics are so artistic and original, combined they give incredible sonic picture. After watching that "Fantastic man" documentary on YT, I realised he is a afrofunk pioneer and something beautiful that Nigeria has to offer. This genius left a legacy. He's truly an atomic bomb!

OMG, this guy was off the chain! Too bad he stopped doing music. He was obviously far ahead of his time.

does anyone know of any other artists that have similar music to this? ie. 70s West African Afrobeat/Highlife with synths.
