Consensus for Post-punk is generally accurate barring anything in the post-punk revival line, most certainly Minimal Synth interlacing with New Wave in addition to Post-Punk, which I would agree with and feel it's prominent enough in the ratio to have a claim. Not that it matters all that much, the minimalism they use is at its best indeed. Recently came to appreciate this song much more than my first few rounds with YMG, love it.

90's kid on this end and got into similar bands to Young Marble Giants late 2008 or so, I can relate on wishing I was into them back when I was in high school, a lot of similar acts and to an extent YMG has had a profound enough of an impact on me to not even regret it anymore, no one around me would have even known the music if I was anyways, much like now lol. It would have been riding on a breeze through those years though.

"although I can't see how they are "atmospheric", as Kurt C. described them." They capture the world of a rainy black and white film, it's like innocence mixed with noir. You don't need new agey synths and whispery falsetto vocals to be atmospheric.

So wonderfully good, although I can't see how they are "atmospheric", as Kurt C. described them.
