I'm actually a little bit excited to see what they will come up with on a new album with McBride on guitar. He has some NWOBHM roots from his time with Sweet Savage. :) Let's see what we get!

For me the list would be (also similar to my number of scrobbles) 1. In Rock 2. Machine Head 3. Fireball 4. Made in Japan 5. Who do we think we are 6. Stormbringer 7. Burn

I'll just intervene here, just to say that 'Child in Time' is a mountain high milestone, not just in rock, but all music history. Keep listening to good ol' Deep Purple!

Yes, definitely that is Deep Purple's Stairway to Heaven... But the whole album In Rock is perfect, absolute masterpiece.

Yes, Fireball is impecable really. By now I'm in doubt about the previous statement. Machine head is too good too. Who do we think we are doesn't get enough atention.

It’s possible to love music. To be devoted to it, to value what it does for you and how it makes you feel, and to want the best for it. Not in the same way you love a person — or at least, I hope not. But take a look at any major music fans meet-ups for black metal, death metal, Sludge metal, or almost anything that develops a subculture, and you can see this love is real, active, and powerful. And of course, profitable. And if it’s possible to love music, then of course it’s possible to fall out of love. To feel disconnected from what first drew you to it. To realize that it isn’t giving you everything it once did, and you can’t give it what it needs from you. Especially if what it needs is regular vinyl purchases in order to get a listening experience advantage over everyone else. I loved music once. I don’t anymore. How that happened is, I think, worth examining. This Dear John letter is a broad history of music itself, and its relationship with its listeners.

"Deep Purple announces that Steve Morse will be stepping back from the band, having been its guitarist for more than a quarter of a century. Steve’s personal circumstances have made it impossible for him to commit to the band’s schedule throughout 2022 and beyond. A few months ago, Steve openly shared with the band´s fans the sad fact that his wife, Janine, is battling cancer and, in his own words, “I simply must be there with her.”" -- https://bit.ly/3b33j8d

They're still putting out great work. Probably the only band I can think of that's this good this late in their career.
