if you like early michelle shocked, i would probably recommend listening to 'don't ask, don't tell'. although 'kind hearted woman' is my favourite. it'd probably be really difficult to find the version i love though, before the songs were re-recorded with drums and bass guitars.

Hey thanks, think i've only just scratched the surface considering how much stuff he's done :) amazing that he isn't more well heard of or referenced by new bands of today :O

The problem is that ARC Music which now owns most publishing rights to both Sonny Boys can't get it straight on their own website. Visit www.sonnyboy.com for a good discussion of which is which. The both played blues harp, wrote songs and made record and that is prettty much twhat they had in common.

No worries, was a pleasure..I should play more Sonny Boy II myself..Loving that harmonica. I see the Duckworth Lewis Method is highly thought of over here too..what an album...and Scott and too many others to mention - all great. :)

Ah, fortunately my favourite author Douglas Adams is left unscathed by the withering sarcasm of Neil Hannon and co. I do like the John Cleese sample "Oh it makes me mad" though. I think that's from the 'dirty fork' sketch.

Oh, well...it occurred to me that the picture might not be you but I still like the hat (I have one like it, except mine's black)! I'm a big neo-swing fan, so I love a man in a fedora! Thanks for the heads-up regarding James Grant's solo career. I didn't know he had one but now I'm curious...think I'll go look him up. In exchange, may I suggest a website called SpartaOTR.com which perhaps might interest you? I noticed that you (naturally) include BBC Radio in your library -- well, SpartaOTR.com is a site which provides MP3 downloads of old-time radio, and they seem to include a rather extensive selection of BBC programming both old and new in their library. They offer a gigabyte of downloads for as little as $3USD -- and they even let you take a peek at the library before you sign up so that you can decide for yourself whether it's worth it.

Noticed you playing Divine Comedy, you may want to become friends with a friend of mine. Simonlittlebass is their regular bass player and a great bloke, I am sure he would be pleased to have another follower. Lee

Caught in the act! My defence, I got into music early 80s and became a massive fan on Nick Beggs' bass and Chapman Stick playing. The Goo are back together now, Nick is now a mate and thats about it really!

Yes, I meant Richard Thompson...just checked out James Last...imho, country music turned into elevator music...not that's there's anything wrong with that, maybe rainy day background music to read by...

Oh yes, and it doesn't hurt that to my American ears, his voice has an exotic quality to it...and thanks for the info on James Last...

I agree some of it is too folksy for my taste...but Cold Kisses paints a word picture that makes it seem as if you're inside his head, I like I Misnderstood as well...mainly because his voice carries a lot of the meaning to me...

Hi Scouse...I discovered a new artist (for me anyway) Richard Thompson...you know his music?? His voice is more expressive, intense, but less-pretty than others, makes him interesting....and his guitar work is great...

Thom has that album. It veers too much on the psych-wail for me, although the album starts off well!

Hi! I can't say which WTLM I like better as they fit different moods for me, I love them both! Any word on when JG will come out with his next CD?
