The "emo revival" is a development in the emo genre of the 2010s in which bands have taken inspiration from the sounds and aesthetics of emo of the 1990s and early 2000s. During the late 2000s and into the 2010s, some bands have blended the emo genre with post-hardcore and progressive rock and other genres, creating a blend of modern emo music often featuring fast, technical guitars and drums, and sometimes high pitched, melodic vocals, as well as screaming.
