only five tracks in but damn this is really good. expected it to be all low-end high energy stuff like Aux 88 but was pleasantly surprised w/ tracks like 'DETROIT CITY' which reminds me of Stingray's Urban Tribe stuff. dope rec, ty!

some guy contacted me because they wanted me to upload another track from an album i uploaded to youtube. i would've normally just give him it but he had to mention it was for some internet "lost media" mystery shit and he had no interest in it, and that some reddit community dedicated to finding this one song couldn't collectively (they were "pursuing" this lead) use soulseek or just google the album title which was posted on a blog with a working download link. i gave him the track and told him this was a dumb thing to spend your time on, and that most people wouldnt upload a track for someone that tells them theyre not interested in the music. and then i got some reddit army sent after me. pretty funny. https://old.reddit.com/r/everyoneknowsthat/comments/17pm06b/i_found_ill_take_you_away_by_joe_rinoies_band_it/

i saw your response to that one kid asking for the everyone knows that song and i considered just berating you for it, but i looked like %1 deeper and it's evident that you're a disturbed person, your collectionist drive has affected your capability to relate to any other breed of music listener dissimilar to your ilk to the point where you unironically expected some post 2004 kid to be familiar with soulseek the worst part are your self justifications, you act like you have a vendetta against these lost wave guys with the catch that they haven't done anything to you. instead you assume that they're angling for internet fame when the reality is that they want to be a little more proactive than the guy bumping a 2002 psytrance set id every week for 5 years. that was the polar opposite of a 'nice' response, perhaps 'internet poisoned' or even 'neurotic' are better descriptors yngmi

of course i would rather talk to and befriend people who are knowledgeable heads and that have some similar tastes to me than random redditors telling me to check out this band called tame impala theyre kinda like the beatles. great psychoanalysis, im sure jung and freud are giving a thumbs up from heaven like in a kelly cartoon. and yeah, i was genuinely weirded out that a community of 5k people (given that this was apparently a known "lead") who claim to be into "searching for rare unheard music" are collectively unable to check not only p2p, but also missed a download link posted on a great blog ran by a genuine head which is one of the first google results for the album title.

no one mentioned tame impala or any artists of middling popularity, wtf are you even talking about. the problem isnt that you like talking to people that share your esoteric musical interests/habits, the problem is that you seemingly don't know how to talk to people that don't. this reddit guy asked you in the nicest way possible about the song and you spewed one of the most contrasting, spiteful response i've ever seen, i can assure you it weirded out more than failing to find the first google result. yes the "lead" came from reddit and organically made it's way to your dms. i don't hang with those folk because they're too young for me, i prefer the fond my mind discord where people look out for a whole lot more of 'lost songs' than just those 2. that doesn't mean i go out of my way to belittle their wild goose chases for the fun of it because that's asshole behaviour. the reddit "lead" was unheard of here but your response defo was heard by everyone. bonus points for the onion tho

how do you know that? and why does it matter this much to you? personally i downloaded the song you sent and i think its a nice ditty, but it's not what we were looking for, and that's alright, i started bumping scritti politti because of ekt. no one whos a bit serious about the search thinks they're the robert christgau of music preservation like you're implying, nor do they think they're doing the world a favor, and i don't know where you got that from. this is the biggest holdup you seem to have, none of these dudes are doing it for personal clout or 'the greater good', they just heard the snippet of a song and went 'oh this sounds good lets find it'. i saw the message you were sent and it's not jarring or offputting at all, in fact other discogs users were asked and many were much more cordial than you, even suggesting possible artists. i do think that you're being delusional. (and no, saying track id over 'song' outside of discogs comes off as pretentious, not unselfish)

"how do you know that?" the youtube video i got sent led me to some wiki where people list themselves as "solvers". saying "lost media" (not just the word "song") is what's pretentious. just asking for "track id" has been common since usenet groups in the 90s, but describing clearly existing things as "lost" and asserting importance to finding it (do you seriously think my point of contention is the word "song". do you actually think this.) is very new and stupid to anyone looking it from the outside. a comment on this very profile has the delusion of grandeur of "trying to preserve some lost media". even if rips of this record isn't online or cheap to buy (it is both), it's in the national diet library like most music released in japan. media was actually institutionally preserved before zoomers decided to call things "lost" (which has another meaning to every librarian in the world) arbitrarily and make giddy youtube videos and wikis about "lost media" and their virtue in finding it.

ok lets be clear here, the lost media in question is not your joe rinoie .flac, it's ekt and the 17 sec snippet baggaged with it, and i do think that the guy that messaged you was in the wrong to not do either a cursory google search in english+japanese or over soulseek of the "lead" song before messaging a collector, but it does not merit at all the response you gave him. i don't think i know the lost media wiki you're talking about, but i can assure you that 'solvers' are not elevated to god tier status in the community, it's just a 'hey i was here and i did this once' type of deal. yes it isn't actually 'lost' in the sense that you can't find it on the internet anymore but it is 'lost' in the sense that it's extremely hard to find (once again, not the .flac you sent) also i think you know this but the guys sending msgs to you in allcaps and hyping the search up are 99.9% likely kids, of course they're going to do that they see it more important than doing their homework or smt

to be frank i dont give a fuck about the internet creepypasta lost media stuff its the most embarrassing thing imaginable. youre all losers. the guys bumping a 2002 psytrance set id in the discogs forums every week for 5 years do not call their efforts "lostwave" or claim to be "music historians". but here's the song if youre looking for it. nothing to do with what you linked. i realize i sound like an old man (im 27) yelling at children for their internet easter egg hunt and i guess i am kinda. the search is clearly more interesting than the music (you could just get a compilation of 80s new wave on cherry red and you will get 5cds worth of music that sounds like this that you've also never heard) and i don't understand the psyche of young people. have fun i guess and if i would give you advice, please don't mention youre on the hunt for some stupid youtube "lostwave" thing if you're asking people to upload music for you. they will probably not be as nice as i am to you. i cleared my

"there isnt a yoshinoya near me and i cant afford to buy a plane ticket to japan so their famed gyudon with extra green onion is "lost food" because i can't get it now." this is what you sound like to anyone who was born before the 2003 invasion of iraq.

don't contact people and call readily available things "lost media" (my rip of this record was in fact online and shared on p2p the whole time, all you had to do is to type the album title into a widely used piece of software for music sharing with a blue bird logo) if you don't want people to mock you for your naivety. it's that simple. if someone actually thinks a cheap vinyl record and the works kafka burnt is the same thing, of course anyone will mock you. if I go to your house and point at things you can buy online for $20 and call them archeological finds you would obviously ask if I'm out of my mind. but this is how zoomers actually describe media they can't find online in seconds.

"preserve some lost media" a ¥1000-2000 record isn't "lost". you're just searching for a track id. stop being incredibly self-aggrandizing and calling everything "lost media" if you can't find it in 2 seconds using google. I've been after songs on mixes for years and I never claim to be doing society a favor searching for them. this is the first time I've ever been even remotely rude (and I still uploaded the track) to anyone asking me to upload stuff. don't mention that you have zero interest in things you ask people to upload if you want them to upload it and that you're just looking for reddit fame. it makes people understandably "sour grapes", especially if they actually seek out and dig for music for their own enjoyment and not internet attention. i just realized this is a burner account lmao. i gave the guy the thing he asked for, told you my exact thoughts on how dumb they sound as a service to the guy so that he could improve in the future and be treated with more respect. all I know is to not upload anything in the future for people who openly say they're not actually interested in listening to it on their own but rather wants to be the one who "solved" some internet mystery in case i get approached from people who are boring enough to not even have personal track ids theyre looking for.

only once, haven't been in the mood for heavier music really. it's good but it's also just re-recordings so not something that's super exciting to me. probably going to listen to it a lot after my CD arrives. impressive how NARASAKI still can do the super high pitched voice in his 50s.

Yeah of course there's the original album, but I agree with what you said about bis voice. I just liked to hear how they sound in 2021, and they still got it. I kinda revisited more recently after I saw Boris perform a cover of a song of theirs and it reminded me how much I used to love CotD (one of the last concerts before the pandemic... ;_;). I also dig all the nostalgic videos they recently uploaded on their YT.
