Hey, it happens. I missed this post for almost a month! I don't at the moment, but then pretty much everything is uncertain right now. I've applied to grad schools and been rejected from almost all of them, with a waitlist to spare, so I don't really know what's going on in a week, let alone a month or more. But if I make a plan (I've been thinking about a lot of things lately) I'll get in touch with you first of all.

Ahh I see. Any in Philly? Lots of schools here as I’m sure you know. I’ve been thinking about going back to school as I was only at Sarah Lawrence for under a year. Still no idea what I want to do with my life though, which is probably why I haven’t gone back to school after so many years now. But yeah let me know, would love to keep in touch. I think I prob have your email somewhere from old perm wave stuff and you may have mine as well. Permanent Wave Philly went on hiatus in 2016 (which may be the unfortunately ironic permanent end of permanent wave, since there aren’t any other active branches anymore; I so wish nyc was still doing stuff as that was so fun years ago, I just remembered that we did even had that secret Santa thing and you made me that mixtape hah)

Hi, I usually visit all my lastfm-friends a bit closer to new year to check out what they have been listening during the last 12 months. And at the same time leave some tips on what I have discovered last year. But anyhow here I'm now.:D. Late in the year I found [artist]Caitlin Canty[/artist] thru Kickstarter. Other discoveries during the year was [artist]Lake Street Dive[/artist], [artist]Austin Lucas[/artist], [artist]Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line[/artist] and [artist]Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors[/artist] A band I'm looking forward to see live is [artist]JP Harris & The Tough Choices[/artist] But I still come back to my old heroes [artist]Van Morrison[/artist] and [artist]Emmylou Harris[/artist]. Listened to almost all of their albums during 2014. Have a great 2015.

That is marvelous! Good for you for capitalizing on your youth and doing something interesting. :) My deepest fear is wasting my youth, so I frequently fantasize about leaving my life and starting over somewhere new and interesting, though Denver isn't so bad that I'm necessarily in a hurry. And I hear Galway's cool! I know a few people who've been there, and they seemed to enjoy their time in the city. Where are you working?

Oh wow, Ireland! That's great news! What brought you over there, and specifically where in the country are you living?

I wasn't familiar with Subrosa until a friend of mine mentioned them a couple weeks before the show, and I wasn't really sure what to expect from Deafheaven. Both bands were a pleasure, however, and it was a really nice night. I won tickets to that show and almost backed out because I was so exhausted, but ultimately I'm glad I went. How've you been as of late?

I rationalized having an account as a repository for my drunk texts, thinking that if they went there I would not be as embarrassed as I would be if they went to someone in my phone. It was much more of a problem when I was in college, not so much now. I'm kind of blown away that Godspeed is playing arenas, even if they are opening for someone who's also cool. The opener at the Denver show I'm attending in November is Explosions, who are cool, but ugh, envious that the east coast gets Godspeed.

I bought a ticket to a show they played in NYC when I was in college, but something came up and I ended up just letting it go to waste, ugh. I see you're listening to the new Nine Inch Nails; how do you like it? I've looked at your Twitter a couple times, yep. The two times I have tried to maintain one I have gotten really self-conscious about posting about all the minutae in my life and deleted it, like, 200 posts in, haha.

I am super jealous of your attendance at Stars of the Lid! Also, your account makes me miss my Twitter.

not sure why people are giving you crap on the Altar of Plagues page, personally i agree with you. the new album transcends black metal. it's for sure one of my favorite releases this year so far. also you have incredible taste.

yeah, I saw them last year and it was definitely one of the loudest/most intense shows I've been to. I don't know how those guys do it every night, I was exhausted just from watching them. haven't seen Chelsea Wolfe live before but I'm pretty amped to see her too, pretty much everything I've heard by her is amazing. are you just going to that show or the whole festival?

also I see you're going to the Swans show in June, just bought myself a Northside Fest badge so I'll be there too o/

I think I remember Swans tickets being around $30 before fees, so seeing them both for (around) that price is a steal! In my opinion anyway. I really wanted to go see one of the FOUR Prince shows that are happening here in May, but tickets are seriously more than I pay in monthly rent. (My rent is stupidly cheap, but still.)

If you can make it down to the city, I think they still have a residency two-night gig lined up! I think I actually missed Chelsea Wolfe this summer when my mom was visiting, and I know I missed Swans in September because I was broke and busy. So I'm really jealous of potentially getting to see both! That's a show affiliated with the Governor's Ball, right? My friend (in da Bronx) was talking about potentially seeing that one too.

it's going well, thanks! I actually moved back to Philly in February as I have a lot more to do here than NY, so I think it was a good decision. and right now I work/teach bass at Girls Rock Philly's after school program (philly's girls rock camp/organization, like Willie Mae in NYC or Portland's rock n roll camp for girls if you're familiar with those), which is super fun.

"In 6 months we're all going to be really embarrassed we called a lot of stuff 'hipster'. [...] We call it 'hipster' because we're hyper-aware internet denizens in a fishbowl." haha, you're awesome

espicially in combination with folk music. pygmy lush is that unique, it's fascinating. it's like a spell that's casted on myself, so I'm not able to listen to anything else anymore. haha

do you know any band that's somehow creating similar dreamy spheres than pygmy lush is doing?

Haha, that's cool! I went to lunch with my mom, grandma and great aunt, then came back to my city with my mom, who took me to the liquor store. I bought a tiny handle of rum, fixed myself a really weak rum and coke at the house, took two sips then went to bed, sober. Love it.

Oh, that sucks about not being able to make it into the city for the occasion, but yeah, it sounds super strenuous. Ditto with Sigur Ros. And I know what you mean about MSG (I tried to see Shakira there for my 21st birthday but tickets sold out before I could get one, haha), though Sigur Ros is oh-so-fab and would sound amazing anywhere with a halfway decent sound system. The first time I saw them was waiting for my acid to kick in in a field at Bonnaroo, which was lovely until I saw them at this other place in New York (some church way up into Manhattan). Seeing them at a proper venue totally blew Bonnaroo out of the water, so hopefully you'll get to have a similar experience later on. :) Also happy late birthday! How was it? My 21st was a total bust, haha.

Hey! I'm not sure about that Chelsea Wolfe song, but it sounds like the person who commented below me does, so I hope that works out! Also, no, I haven't gotten to the new Godspeed yet. I went to New Mexico for a zine fest this weekend and have been super busy trying to get everything ready for that as well as now trying to get into the groove of the week (I got back late last night and went to work at 6:30 this morning). So short story is no, I've been super busy, hanging with friends, etc., but it's on my list for this week! How do you like it?

I haven't gotten to that mixtape yet, as I'm still obsessing over Apokalypsis, but I did get to The Grime and the Glow and really loved it. She is so totally great. ALSO how you like the new Converge?! I listened to it yesterday and was a little weary when I heard the first track but holy shit, I was so in love after that point.

I had no idea that the guy was a racist nutjob, but now that I do know I'm much less inclined to give him a listen. Thanks anyway though! And omg I know, so excited! My friend just sent me a download link this morning, but I haven't gotten to listening just yet. I've been wanting to get back into them lately, so this came at a good time. What are your initial impressions?

Awesome, thanks! I searched and found it pretty easily, and now I'm excited to get into it. What is some good Burzum to try as a starting point? I didn't know who that was until I looked him up re: your comment.

What Chelsea Wolfe are you listening to that it contains a cover of "Let Love In"?! I have been looking for Nick Cave covers for some time now, and I just recently discovered (and loved) her!

I liked it, I think you may have echoed sentiments on Thursdizzle about all the "oOoOhs" being kinda trite/over-produced and that was my only issue with the album really. I, like many fans, will always love the first two albums most, but these guys just write good rock 'n roll music and I can always get down to that.
