Oh my gosh, you got it right! Yes, that's why my handle is this - The Cavaliers have always been my favorite corps. But I haven't followed DCI in a while now, though I probably should check in. Haven't seen their show this year.

I don't know if it was Periphery you brought up in relation to this point, but listening to them my thoughts sort of echo what you were saying about intricate, technical music being more or less buried beneath by harsh vocals. I'd be all for instrumental versions of their songs, because it's almost impossible to even focus on the instrumentation because of the vocals. At least with BTBAM it's monotonous and easy to block out, which is why I don't mind it with them and refer to it as background noise.

I'll have to get back to you on which album I like best because I haven't listened to them TOO much so far. But I'll probably make them my jogging music tomorrow since I do run best when I have something heavy to listen to. Their last two albums are actually probably my favorites of theirs, so I just have to shake my head at all the former fans that've lost their collective shit because of them phasing out growls and people hating Heritage. I'll listen to anything Akerfeldt puts out. I even suffered through his collaboration with Steven Wilson, Storm Corrosion, which I've heard compared to Heritage (spoiler: they're wrong). The guy has a great voice and it's just gotten better with each album. As far as Katatonia is concerned, they're one of those bands I should like, yet just can't really get into. I have a friend who loves them, though.

Listening to Protest the Hero for the first time, because you said they were your favorite, and I have a couple thoughts. 1.) These are growls I can get behind. Too bad there's not more of them, or that female vocalist. 2.) PTH need to do more ballad-esque songs. So far, most of my favorites, such a "Mist," would fit that description. When Walker dials back his vocals, it's sort of a thing of beauty. 3.) However, I do love contrast (see Opeth, BTBAM), so maybe they don't need to mess with the formula any after all.

haha Love G?G! It's too bad they don't do any touring. They would have been a great addition to the ASIWYFA/TTNG tour.

Ahh, can't wait for PTH. I finally get to see them, it would seem. That's right around finals time, though, so hopefully it works out. Well, I won two tickets to the BTBAM show and I was going to take a friend of mine who doesn't even listen to them, but he said to see if anyone else wanted to go first, so I'm offering around a free ticket to anyone even remotely interested. haha

By the way, have you considered going to the Between the Buried and Me show tonight? They're gonna play Parallax II all the way through. I am the epitome of excited.

That's pretty much true. I can only think of one or two that aren't on the same level as the rest of them, but they're pretty damn close. You will not be disappointed.

I remember doing a written review of Kezia (we had to review something, f.e. a book, I chose that album) in the 1st course (English Philology). I interviewed Rody back in summer, I have beenwriting in a Rock/Metal webpage. Such a nice guy, aside from the fact that he already told me that Volition was supposed to be released in Ocober BEFORE they announced it. Not many bands do that, and I have interviewed a few ones. I will be studying HARD months before the show, just to be here. And, of course, trying to have a LIVE interview this time. They were already searching for a full time drummer. If you want the full English interview, just tell me.

Fans from such a great band are always welcomed. I read that you have seen them live TWICE and it's like "such a lucky person". They are coming to Spain in January, in the middle of my university exams, if I can´t go (I'd try, I have to move 200 kms more or less to, but I had the same problem back in the Scurrilous tour (June, 2011, university exams again). I can't wait for my Volition copy to arrive! Nice to meet you :D

Nice! Admittedly, I've never actually listened to any of those bands but Cult of Luna. haha But their new album Vertikal slays for days and I always hear good things about TesseracT (they were one of the opening acts for BTBAM last tour, I think). Should be awesome! And, yeah, even though I haven't bought my ticket for that yet, I definitely need to go see BTBAM in October! That is going to be an amazing show. Has Future Sequence grown a lot on you? I remember you mainly went to the Coheed/BTBAM show for Coheed but were starting to warm up to BTBAM.

I didn't. I was reading up on HRVRD's and Eisley's sets and wasn't super impressed, especially the lack of The Inevitable and I from HRVRD's set. And I heard stuff on Vinyl Collective similar to what you said; he sounded way off live. I really liked them when I saw them but now that I know the songs it would probably be annoying if he changed them up drastically to the point where I couldn't sing along. How was Eisley?

Damn! I mean, that's awesome, I'm glad you like them! But I had an extra ticket to the show last night and was trying to find someone who might have wanted to go. haha I ended up just giving it to the lady at the ticket counter and telling her to give it to the first person who wanted to buy a ticket and to tell them to use their money to buy merch, instead. haha

Oh, God, that song. To this day, I'm still not into any of those bands. I think if you didn't like them back then, you probably never will because they're more a nostalgia thing nowadays.

Oh, yeah, I agree. They're going to make lots of great music. I expect them to change it up every record. I just wish I would have grabbed one of those fancy TIAI's before they sold out. haha // It's a weird lineup, for sure. If you go, you'll have to let me know how Say Anything is and if they're worth checking out.

When I saw them, I liked them enough that I grabbed the Cardboard Houses 7" then ordered the new record. It's not quite The Inevitable and I, but it's growing on me. The lyrics are really small on the sleeve, so that's annoying. haha // Have you checked out Eisley? I saw them a couple years ago and they were really good. I'm not into Say Anything but I'm told they're good, so that would be a good show, I imagine.

That should be a great show because TGI and SFTP rule hard and I heard STYG is pretty awesome, too. I wasn't overly impressed with the new TGI album, but it was still good. I'm all about Returners, though. That shit slays for days.

I did go and it was insane. The best show I've ever been to, hands down. letlive. was made for venues like that. And HRVRD was really good! I bought a 7" with two of their new songs on it and I am really excited for their new record. This picture sums ll.'s performance pretty well. The band was pretty much playing *in* the crowd. I'm the guy throwing the snowboard back after Jason jumped off of it. haha

Oh, yeah, letlive. is terrific. They're one of my favorite bands, as indicated by my last.fm handle. haha Their live show is unmatched. And I'm a huge TIH fan, too. I'm glad to hear Conditions and HRVRD are good, though. I'm so pumped for that show.

Yeah, probably more likely for the ll. show, since that one didn't sell out. haha And I like that you're just going for Conditions; I did something similar when ll. was an opening act.
