That would have been awesome! It took me a few listens to appreciate her earlier stuff, but Pain Is Beauty is her best album yet (I reckon anyway). Nick Cave is coming to Wellington!! He is doing two solo shows and I scored tickets to both (which sold out within an hour). Roll on December :)

Thanks for the links. I'm liking what I'm hearing from Kerbdog especially. I hadn't got around to listening, seems I have been missing out! Will defo be adding them to my list (backlog is growing lol). Here's one for you: do you know of Jakob? They are a post rock band from NZ. I have seen them a few times, and was front and centre at this gig when they opened for Isis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxpEuboxu3Y and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCo2ucL0RQk

I enjoyed Russian Circles also. I've seen Shihad 3 times, and they just keep getting better. Jon Toogood is such a great entertainer as well as a super musician. Their new album is on the way and I hope they tour it. I guess for sheer emotion Mono would have to be my favourite gig. Everyone in the crowd felt the music. My grunge weakness would be Alice In Chains. I'll check out Aerogramme. Chvrches are so pop-like, but sooooo listenable haha.

Hi, Shihad temporarily changed their name after 9/11. They had tried to make it in the US, but it didn't work out for them. Their documentary 'Beautiful Machine' is worth watching, as it tells their story from when they all met at school. Chvrches was one of my best discoveries last year. I play their album a lot, and watched their Coachella set online. They came to play a festival in Auckland early this year but I'm in Wellington, so sadly didn't get to see them. I was hoping they would come here to do a side show like some of the other festival bands did. Who has been your favourite band to see live?

Wish I could have got on the guest list for that HIM show but never managed it. Also missed Caspian on the last support tour with defeater - just wish they would do a headline tour. The Glasgow show with GIAA can be downloaded here - https://archive.org/details/Caspian2010-11-09.Glasgow24-bit was quite glad when the fire alarm went off during the GIAA set :)

It is wider than it is deep which isn't helped by the stage being placed quite deeply into it. Sure Noridc Giants will be great there. I have seen the same set 4 times now so think I will give it a miss as I find GIAA quite boring.

Sorry to hear that, is she ok? Yeah I went along to the gig. It was the same set they played on the last tour and the stage set out never worked as well in tuts but they were still superb. They are supporting God Is An Astronaut next month at the ABC I believe.

I picked a good night to acquire a bass guitar since learning some skeleton techniques some months back. That was fantastic.

Indeed, that BABYMETAL was some highlight weird shit. My retort is coincidentally also from Japan- in the form of Boredoms' "Soul Discharge."

I started listening to Weekend a year ago when I first saw the vimeo clip of the San Francisco houseparty. I've seen them 3x times this year, when they did the Wire support, Metropolis Festival and the Kills support. Hope to see them next year again, but hopefully in a small clubvenue. I just recently played the WFT songs, but Shaun doesn't sing on it does he? Roskilde was a couple of days before Metropolis.

well i saw kyuss plays garcia last year at hellfest so it will be opeth i shall be watching except i expect ill be by myself again as none of my friends like them. They obviously have awful taste in music! It usually doesn't bother me going off on my own but after going to watch omega massif on my own last year at 10 in the morning and being so hungover having to run off during their final song to puke has hit a nerve with me! Not sure if your a fan but have you listened to the new explosions in the sky album? I was so excited about it but i really shouldn't have. What a let down x
