Hii!! You have some very cool charts! I've been meaning to get into Phoebe Bridgers/boygenius's works, but I don't really know where to begin or what a good introduction to this type of music would be. Are there any recommendations you have of "must listen to" track/albums? Not even necessarily those two, but of music with a similar vibe or stuff you like in general. Since we have considerably different music tastes I'd love to discover some cool new stuff :D

Hi there! Sorry for the late response, but I made a playlist with some recs! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7z3YmeZwCFIDuPsZXZdmns?si=baa64ab9d4c249e3 hopefully you use spotify. The first 2 tracks are kind of "essential listening" imo like most critically acclaimed tracks maybe, from her sophomore album punisher. ICU is a more upbeat track from punisher, savior complex is more lowkey, and graceland too is just my personal favorite. I included her cover of "that funny feeling" bc I saw you were a fan of Bo! And sidelines, 1 of her most recent solo releases. From her her first album "stranger in the alps" I just tried to include a variety of my favs. Same with the 5 tracks after from boygenius! I included some ethel cain tracks bc shes amazing! Then the rest of the playlist is like a tasting menu kinda, just some of my favorite tracks going from "all time favs" to most recent favs all the way up to this week haha. If u lmk ur thoughts I'd be happy to tailor more with add'tl recs! :)

Oh wow, I didn't expect such a comprehensive response! This is some amazing stuff you collected here, thank you so much :DD I'm gonna give it all a listen and come back to comment my thoughts. I've been meaning to get into the discographies as a whole so this is a huge helping hand for me to know where to start. Thanks again for the tips!

omg ok so some albums/albums with songs that i've been enjoying are present tense by yumi zouma, eyeye by lykke li, ants from up there by black country new road(basketball shoes is an amazing song like just stick through it), and MOTOMAMI by rosalia!! as far as upcoming stuff, julia jacklin and rina sawayama have both released great singles for upcoming albums, and weyes blood is coming out with a new album in the fall!

hello!! that is so hard. as far as songs that came out last year, probably silk chiffon by MUNA ft phoebe bridgers because i was SO excited for its release and music video, and it literally just brings up my mood, i listened to it almost every day walking to school. i think nothing new by taylor swift ft taylor swift was also really highly anticipated and really amazing. other songs that came out last year that i have really memorable periods being obsessed with are candy darling by st. vincent, the beach by wolf alice, please stay by lucy dacus, and you lose! by magdalena bay. some other songs in the same vein but didn't come out in 2021 are l'amour looks something like you by kate bush, alterlife by rina sawayama, and pink matter by frank ocean. graceland too by phoebe bridgers (came out in 2020) was also super important to me, and it was really a crazy culminating event for me to see her perform it live. please tell me about yours!

hi, thx for your replies, sorry it took me so long. I don't log in that often and I have intended to give a proper answer. I will give your recommendations a listen and will think about what 2021 had to offer for me. sorry for another postponement ;)

Hey, thanks for the shout. I'd like to leave you a couple of recommendations- Cloth (a wonderful band from Glasgow with one self titled album). White Flowers (like Cocteau Twins were still around, album's called Day By Day) and all 4 albums by a young lady named Sneaks. You may like them, you may not! Let me know what you think ; )

Just listened to it and found the production very Cocteau Twinsesque! Have you heard of an Austrian singer called Sophia Blenda? She's the singer from a band called Culk and has just released her debut solo album. This has nothing to do with the Cocteau Twins 😊
