I think that when employed carefully (more so than Keith has lately, btw), there is a legitimate place for both approaches. But how do you undo all that manifestly deceptive bullshit about race and sexuality that has been pumped into Hannity fans over the years? I'm more than happy to have/witness a civilised point/counter-point argument with a conservative, but even on a university campus (let alone on Fox!) I say good luck finding one who recognises the inherit hypocrisy of promoting freedom and liberty, but denying those rights to homosexual couples. Economic policy, foreign policy... i'm more than happy to be polite, even in the most vehement disagreement. Anti-gay arguments are more problematic because they are exclusively and so unabashedly about validating prehistoric, arcane prejudices to aid in stripping the most basic legal and natural rights from another human. That's when I feel, perhaps as Keith does too, obligated to yell against the noise.

Dialogue? With Republicans? Ha! I know what you're saying man, I just wonder how smart it is to have any expectation of co-operation from the GOP when the average house Republican thinks Sarah Palin is the future and Rush Limbaugh is their policy-chief. The exact same thing happens here in Australia. You hear a lot of talk about bi-partisanship (from both sides of the isle), but it's always about playing politics and taking the other side of an argument just because that's what's expected.

Fair enough. It's hard to deny the polemic nature of what Olbermann does, but I still think he is brilliant... the Prop 8 Special Comment is not something that a major party stooge would ever have been able to produce, and more importantly, he writes those rants himself... which makes me think he's pretty much for real.

I get so many angry responses from my trolling in the Buckethead shoutbox, it's honestly inspiring. I think that people have it all wrong... the place to troll is anywhere there are "progressive rock" fans.

I'm pretty sure. Just on one song. I don't know what's the name, my Citizen's Arrest demo is tagged badly.

In response to the Ted Leo/Citizens Arrest comment, yes Ted Leo was in the band, he sings on the demo.

Yeah one time back in high school i remember overhearing one of my parent's friends talking about how great Thatcher was and I proceeded to get into a heated argument with them basing my side solely on what few Crass lyrics I had absorbed. Yeah, wasn't too pretty...
